Are you one of the many employees who are working from a home office today due to your company’s need to make responsible work environment adjustments? With more companies figuring out how to efficiently and effectively enable their employees to work from home, many remote workers are seeing the doors open to new and exciting opportunities for relocation to the Big Sky community.

If there’s no longer a need to be physically at the workplace, creating your dream home office brings with it a lot of interesting considerations, some maybe even requiring a domicile upgrade. Is my current home office big enough? Is the view out of my window  riparian, sunny, or mountainous enough? Do I need a larger home with more space to let my work energy flow? All of these are fair questions with regard to your current real estate needs in considering your perfect Gallatin Valley property  as we ride the wave of the current health crisis.

According to George Ratiu, Senior Economist for Realtor.com:
The ability to work remotely is expanding home shoppers’ geographic options and driving their motivation to buy, even if it means a longer commute, at least in the short term…Although it’s too early to tell what long-term impact the COVID-era of remote work will have on housing, it’s clear that the pandemic is shaping how people live and work under the same roof”

Working from home has its pros and cons and requires an overhaul of time and space management. Does your company have a gym on premises that you’ll miss? You’ll need a room or garage bay for that. Do you need additional storage for supplies you’d find in the supply closet at your place of business? Best make sure your new home office has a large closet. Maybe you’d like to upgrade your company’s courtyard space where you used to eat your sack lunch to a large backyard with a hammock for that much needed midday siesta. All of these factors, and more, are motivating today’s buyers to change their Montana home search parameters.

A recent Realtor.com-HarrisX survey indicates: “In a June Poll of 2,000 potential home shoppers who indicated plans to make a purchase in the next year, 63% of those currently working from home stated their potential purchase was a result of their ability to work remotely, while nearly 40% [of] that number expected to purchase a home within four to six months and 13% said changes related to pandemic fueled their interest in buying a home.”

It is clear that prospective homeowners today are seeing housing opportunities through a different lens. The National Associate of Home Builders (NAHB) notes: “New single-family home sales jumped in June, as housing demand was supported by low interest rates, a renewed consumer focus on the importance of housing, and rising demand in lower-density markets like suburbs and exurbs.”

In many cases, a new home in beautiful Bozeman, Montana may just be the perfect solution!
